2015 Mini Superleggera Vision Concept

BMW Group has officially unveiled the new 2015 Mini Superleggera Vision Concept at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Cernobbio, Northern Italy. This roadster is the results of cooperation between BMW Mini division and Italian Touring Superleggera. Designed by Mini design chief Anders Warming and Louis de Fabribeckers from Touring, this model expresses “the most minimalist and emotional style of motoring”

Executive Talk About The 2015 Mini Superleggera Vision Concept

Anders Warming, Head of MINI Design said that, “The MINI SuperleggeraTM Vision elegantly perpetuates what the Classic Mini started 55 years ago: reduction to the essentials. Its energetic, minimalistic design embodies the dynamic essence of an automobile. At the same time it creates unique emotional beauty in combining the past and future of the automotive industry, i.e. traditional coachwork craftsmanship and modern design styling. It was a pleasure for me to design a concept like this”.

“The concept is an elegant automobile which interprets a British roadster under the influence of Italian style and hand craftsmanship.” said Adrian van Hooydonk, BMW Group design chief .

In term of exterior styling, this model will compete with the new generation of Mazda MX-5. This roadster features hand-crafted body that features a soft curves and a bespoke Como Blue paint job. Moreover there is also carbon fiber material at the front splitter, carbon fiber reinforced plastic side sills and a distinctive rear fin. The 2015 Mini Superleggera Vision Concept has 2520 mm wheelbase, compared to the standard Mini Cooper hatchback with 2495 mm wheelbase. The total length is 4162 mm. 1964 mm for total width (1825 mm without mirrors) and 1209 mm height.

Moving to the interior, the Superleggera Vision features an elegant and classic design with premium leather upholstery. The cabin will features a digital instrument cluster, aluminum-covered dashboard, a three-spoke steering wheel, an analog clock and Union Jack-inspired structural elements in the doors.

Sadly, BMW Group also didn’t say anything about the 2015 Mini Superleggera Vision Concept production version. We expect that the production version will be introduced sometime in 2016.
